Water Project with Tripoli Lebanon RI Matching Grant #60123

The Rotary Club of Zgharta Al Zawieh, in collaboration with Auxilia, proposes to pay the tuition of 41 orphans living in the poorest area of Zgharta. Their ages vary between 8 and 13 years. They come from families in need who they have lost their main source of financial support.

Zgharta is the main city of the Zgharta – the Zawieh region located in the North of Lebanon. This region consists of 51 towns and villages with more than 130,000 inhabitants. This project is especially important because these children have become easy targets to several types of abuse, drug dealing and delinquency.

The Rotary literacy project is meant to help them overcome these difficulties. It will allow them to learn and find in the future jobs that will help their families make a better living. Moreover, if they are educated and we give them the opportunity to learn, to read and to write, these children will be able to choose a good career. They will be able to participate in the development of their communities.

From 1992 until now, the experience shows the Auxilia is very active and efficient in trying to find solutions to one of the most important social problems: broken families.

Therefore, the Rotary club of Zgharta Zawieh noticed that working with Auxilia would serve the ideas of Rotary. Zgharta – Zawieh has witnessed the true efficiency of this foundation.

For the total amount of 19900 US Dollars, the number of beneficiaries would be 41 students, all coming from families in need: orphans, handicapped parents, and similar cases. The repartition will be as follows:
